Words like “kind,” “committed” and “cordial” were some of the adjectives used to describe Luís, who received authorities and friends in the embassy hall. Among those present were the Cuban Ambassador Adolfo Curbelo Castellanos, the Spanish Ambassador Maria Del Mar and the representative of TAP Portugal in the Americas, Carlos Antunes.
The Portuguese emphasize that their arrival in the country took place in the midst of a global crisis, but that they found a welcome and a home here.
“We entered Brazil in the middle of a pandemic, in 2020. But the only virus that we will take away from here after five happy years is the virus of gratitude. Thank you to all those who contributed,” he thanked in a speech.

The Ambassador’s Legacy
Interpersonal relationships are in fact the greatest gift that Luís and Cristina will take from the country. “Brazil is not only a welcoming country, but it has great people,” emphasized the ambassador to Brazil. Column Claudia Meireles.
Admired and loved by members of the embassy, the couple received gifts and speeches of thanks. Deputy head of mission Cristina Matos acted as spokesperson and highlighted the ambassador’s “conciliatory” personality, as well as his commitment.
“We were lucky to have a friend, a teacher, a leader, an example. We appreciate everything we learned from you, Luís. We thank Cristina, for the good disposition, for the human environment that you made possible for us,” said the head of mission.

The legacy left by the family is one of contribution and bridges – this is confirmed by the representative of TAP Portugal in the Americas, Carlos Antunes. “Easy, intelligent person, always available to support, always with his eyes on the business and at the same time on punctuality and the consolidation of relations between Portugal and Brazil. We will miss Luís and his easy relationship with all those interlocutors,” he said.

In the menu, the buffet BRK prepared a selection of farewell canapes, including tapioca cubes, sweet potato chips with guacamole, cherry tomatoes and cilantro, serrano ham and aioli croquettes and creamy cod arancini with olives.
