The indicted federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) spoke out this Friday (12/19), after the revocation of his mandate, formalized by the Chamber of Deputies this Thursday (12/18). The impeachment decision was made by the Chamber’s board of directors, under the leadership of President Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB). He lost his mandate due to absences, as he has been in exile in the United States since the beginning of the year and cannot participate in the sessions.
During a live on his YouTube channel, Eduardo criticized the position of his own party, the PLin the episode and also complained about Hugo Motta for refusing to accept that he become minority leader in the House after the resignation of MP Caroline de Toni (PL-SC) in September. “I am being impeached because Hugo Motta, in an unprecedented manner, did not accept that I become minority leader,” he lamented.
At the time, Motta said the parliamentarian could not exercise his role and mandate outside Brazil. For Eduardo, the decision is not the right one. “It is not the obligation of the Speaker of the House to know whether I am in the United States, within my state or in my hometown. It is the right of the leader not to be present,” declares Jair Bolsonaro’s son.

The former parliamentarian also criticized the first deputy of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, deputy Antônio Carlos Rodrigues (PL-SP), who signed the two acts revoking the mandates of Eduardo and Alexandre Ramagem (PL-SP). According to him, Antônio Carlos took a seat at the table only because he had been appointed a long time ago by the PL: “I could have put much more honorable people, but, in any case, this kind of thing happens.”
Regarding the statement by party leader Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) that the party will evaluate internally what to do with Antônio Carlos, Eduardo says that the change of this replacement would be welcome, if possible.
“If the PL does not do it, the question of the true right of the party will deteriorate (…). If the PL has the power to do something and does not do it, another party will fill this gap. Let’s see how that will happen”, estimates Eduardo Bolsonaro.
Eduardo Bolsonaro also criticized the PL, recalling that in August this year the party obtained the expulsion of Antônio Carlos after the parliamentarian praised STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes and criticized US President Donald Trump.
“When the PL fails to scratch the ground, it turns into anything but a political party. It begins to resemble a Centrão party, which puts everyone in, has no definition. How can we say that the party is fighting for freedom when a party member votes to impeach a persecuted politician?” asked the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
