Last Wednesday, the Mossos d’Esquadra expelled the squatters at the B9 institute in Badalonaforcing them to spend the night outside and walling off the entrances to the property. For two nights, the squatters settled at the gates of the institute and even lit a bonfire to alleviate the cold and shared the little food they had. In addition, they received help from some neighbors in the neighborhood.
Since then, the police presence has been constant and the area has already been evacuated and cleaned and, despite warnings to leave the premises, those affected continue camp in the street.
This Friday, a team of Public mirror went to the streets of Badalona to speak with some of those affected: “It’s not a solution, to bring people to the streets and stay here watching what they do… Friends from other societies will come and they will fighting with the police to try to sneak in again“.
“Badalona belongs to all citizens. So we will be here. They have no right to expel us,” added another concerned person who, in the same way, emphasized: “Badalona is not theirs. We will be here whether they like it or not. We want a solution to our problem. They must respect us as human beings. We are not savages“.
