The Government of Castile-La Mancha congratulates the IES ‘Andrés de Vandelvira’, from Albacete, who was awarded this week, in a gala held at the Teatro Real in Madrid, with the National quality award for Erasmus+ professional training projects.
This presented … recognition – presented by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, within the framework of the annual Erasmus+ Dissemination Day, which brings together the most innovative educational projects in Spain -, places the center of Albacete among the best Erasmus+ projects in the country.
The award recognizes the work developed by the institute as part of the international project “Wine in the age of climate change”. It is coordinated by the center under the direction of José Félix Lara and María Luisa Gaspar, in collaboration with institutions from Austria, Italy, Slovakia, Romania and Greece, all specialized in viticulture.
For three years, students and teachers worked together to analyze how climate change is affecting European vineyards, collecting data on acidity, pH, sugar levels, harvest dates and climate conditions. The result was an international database and a European comparative study, which identifies worrying trends and good adaptation practices.
The project resulted in a practical guide for wineries and training centers, as well as innovative educational material which integrate sustainability into professional training in the wine sector.
The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Amador Pastor, sent a congratulatory message to the institute, while recalling the intrinsic values that exist in initiatives like this, such as collaboration between different community countries, commitment to climate change and new production systems or knowledge of other languages.
