Eduardo Casanova announced this Thursday through his social networks that he was suffering from HIV, with a message accompanied by a preview video of a documentary about his life directed by the journalist Jordi Évole: “Today I break this uncomfortable and painful silence after many years.”
“A silence that many of us people living with HIV maintain and suffer from. I do it when I want, when I can, I do it for myself, but I wish that this can help more people. I do it in my own way, through cinema, which is my way of communicating,” explained the actor and film director in his release.
Following this confession, numerous well-known faces have publicly supported Eduardo and defended him against all the messages the actor has received. The latest of them was Adrián Lastra, who was spotted at Starlite Madrid this weekend.
“It’s a shame it took so long because of fear… well, I don’t know if it’s fear, I haven’t spoken to Eduardo. I can imagine that he has to adapt, he’s a very strong guy, also very insecure, no matter how much shell he has, we all know that he’s a little doll, Eduardo. It’s worth applauding, thanking, hugging, kissing, opening your eyes. Let’s not confuse HIV with the other.” Let’s not confuse this because there is a lot of nonsense out there,” the actor said.
Eduardo’s documentary will hit theaters “soon” in 2026 and announced that “there will be time to explain more things.” “Despite the fear and uncertainty, I feel deeply happy today,” he said.
