Changing countries is a life-changing decision and can be motivated by various aspects. Work, money, love or even health.
In any case, it is always a step which can lead us to do a series of thoughts … with the perspective that the distance of being far from home offers us.
Spanish TikToker @clauditrips shared a story in which she reflected on her experience moving to Dublin, Ireland, motivated by better job opportunities.
“I moved to Dublin for the money, I didn’t come to learn English. I came to look for work because here there are more opportunities and with better pay», he explains in his video, which has already sparked a debate on social networks.
“For them, it is completely unthinkable to abandon a country with a wonderful culture, population and climate for a gray and dirty city”
Claudia assures that this decision was a consequence of the precariousness in Spain. “Lately, ‘I had nothing better to do in my country and I came because the pay is better here’ has become the phrase I hear the most,” he says. But this experience also allowed him think about cultural differences and economic between the two countries.
According to the tiktoker, the Irish don’t understand how someone can leave a country like Spain. “For them, it is completely unthinkable to abandon a country with a wonderful culture, population and climate for a gray and dirty city,” he emphasizes.
“Completely precarious”
This cultural contrast generates mixed feelings: “It makes me a little angry because it makes me understand that They see Spain as the country of cheap coffee and beerwhere people are always happy and having fun, regardless of the difficulties we encounter every day.
Claudia points out that in Ireland, money is not as big a problem as in Spain. “Living here made me realize that the culture of effort and sacrifice that we have in Spain is based on a completely precarious country, where being able to save is a luxury,” he reflects.
Despite the difficulty of emigrating, Claudia says the experience gave her a different perspective. “Thanks to this, I was able understand this culture and mineand it made me realize how lucky I am to live this life that I am building for myself little by little,” she explains.
With a touch of emotion, Claudia confesses her desire to return to Spain in the future. “They dream of emigrating to Australia, and I dream of returning to my country with a salary that allows me to live and not survive,” he concludes.
