Amy Lee confirms that the band is finalizing the sequel to The Bitter Truth and preparing a major world tour
Amy Lee, singer and frontman of Evanescence, has confirmed that the group will release a new album in 2026, continuing the work of The bitter truth (2021) and keep the band active on the global rock scene. The statement was made during a radio interview KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmasin which Lee said the band still had to finalize some lyrics, but that the recording process was progressing well and that she was “really excited” about the material.
The upcoming album marks the sixth studio album from Evanescence and arrives after an intense year for the group, which has already released new titles in 2025, such as “Life after death” And “Fight like a girl” (with the rapper K. Flay). Furthermore, Lee participated in the collaboration “End of you” with Poppy And Courtney LaPlante (spirit box), which established itself as one of the most notable heavy music collaborations of the year.
During the interview, Amy Lee reinforced that the release should not be interpreted as something immediately in early 2026, but at some point early in the year, as the band finalizes production and structure of songs currently in development.
The singer said they were “almost in the home stretch” and had several songs in progress, signaling that the new album would represent a significant step in the evolution of the band’s sound, with updated production and a potential return to the introspective and intense themes that have always marked their career.
Furthermore, the confirmation of the new album comes in addition to the announcement of an extensive world tour in 2026, with dates in North America, the United Kingdom and Europe, and with Poppy, spirit box, Nova Twins And K. Flay as the opening act for various parts of the tour – one of the band’s most ambitious projects in recent years.
What The bitter truth left and what the new album can bring
The album The bitter truthreleased in March 2021, was the return of Evanescence after a hiatus and represents the band’s fifth album, exploring sounds ranging from alternative metal to gothic metal and hard rock, with intense lyrics and deep emotional energy.
The album was well received by critics and fans, cementing the band’s relevance at a time when rock and metal were looking for new ways to connect with audiences.
Considering the impact of The bitter truth and the band’s return with isolated songs in 2025, the new album has the potential to not only expand the legacy of Evanescencebut also to renew its role within contemporary rock, by uniting the classic elements of its sonic aesthetic with an updated and collaborative vision which has been reflected in recent partnerships.
