The latest pictures of Christian Petersen, renowned chef and television presenter, show him enjoying days of peace and fun in Brazil with his wife Sofía Zelaschi in the state of Santa Catarina. Postcards of peace, nature and shared smiles that have a special meaning today: Just a few days after this trip, Petersen suffered a decompensation while climbing the Lanín volcano in Argentine Patagonia, which landed him in the intensive care unit. The contrast between the serenity of those days and the seriousness of his current condition causes a deep shock in the gastronomic community and those who follow his career.
While in Santa Catarina, Petersen and Zelaschi stayed at the Awasi Santa Catarina, an inn in Ponta dos Ganchos, north of Governador Celso Ramos. There they found an oasis of peace, contact with nature and shared experiences that combined moments of relaxation with leisure activities and an immersion in local gastronomy. Andrea Moschetti, host of the place, thanked you with warm words for the visit: “It was a pleasure to receive you! Until next time ✨ A hug.”
The chef’s social media posts reflected his enthusiasm and passionate view of the cuisine of southern Brazil. With words full of admiration, he highlighted the freshness, color and energy of the local flavors: “The south of Brazil is wonderful, its cuisine full of flavor, very fresh and with a lot of color… Many chefs in Brazil are very inspiring…”. Petersen also mentioned Chef Dani Damasceno, in charge of the Awasi restaurant, who warmly replied: “Thank you very much, Chef! It was a real pleasure to be able to show you a little of our gastronomy. I sincerely hope that you enjoyed the experience. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.”
The photos shared by the couple today are read with a different emotion. In one of them, Petersen and Zelaschi walk along a wooden walkway with books in hand and a serene smile, surrounded by lush vegetation, as if time had stood still. In another image, the chef appears on the beach, next to a light wooden canoe, under a gray sky and in front of a calm sea, in a postcard of silence. They are also seen playing a game of tennis on a clay court surrounded by greenery and shaking hands with gestures of complicity and joy. Simple and bright moments that have deep meaning today amidst the worry and hope for his recovery.
