A shelter rescued a cat whose owner had put it up for sale on the platform Vintage second-hand itemsdespite the fact that the rules of this application expressly prohibit it.
As reported in the newspaper The Sunthe woman, originally from Birmingham (United Kingdom), had set a price of 30 pounds, a little less than 35 euros.
Abi Left, of the Left Paw Cat Rescue Center in Birmingham, told this outlet she contacted the owner, who handed the animal over to her after reacting negatively to contact from the shelter. According to Left, he told her that “I didn’t see what was wrong” with the sale.
The three-year-old cat is now in the care of a foster family. Abi Left says that the cat was very scared when they picked him up and he was hiding from the family who had taken him in. “At least it’s safe and didn’t accidentally fall into the wrong hands,” he says.
For his part, a spokesperson for the Vinted platform declared: “We do not tolerate this type of behavior at all.” adding that the ad was removed on Wednesday “as soon as they became aware of it.”
