
Military police exchanged gunfire with thieves suspected of robbing the pharmacy, Saturday afternoon (20/12), on Avenida Morumbi, in the southern zone of São Paulo. One of the criminals, a 22-year-old man, died.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security, four armed men invaded the establishment and captured customers and employees. They demanded the victims’ personal belongings and stole valuable drugs before fleeing on motorbikes.
While fleeing, the group was located by officers and a confrontation ensued. The police found one of them injured. Emergency services were called, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to the suspect, a pedestrian passing in the area was also shot. He was hit in the left leg and taken to the family hospital in Taboão da Serra.
Some of the items stolen by the criminals were recovered from the suspect.

Civil and military police are investigating the matter through inquests. Footage from body cameras used by officers will be part of the evidence in the police investigation.
The case was registered as robbery, extortion and death resulting from police intervention, in addition to self-defense, by the 89th Police District (Jardim Taboão), which requested the opinion of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP).
